How BooKoo Chef Started

Bookoo Chef, a Spokane-based team of service industry professionals and marketing minds has formed to revolutionize the way consumers eat at home in the post-COVID-19 landscape. The website and app-based platform pairs private chefs directly with consumers to create one-of-a-kind in-home dining experiences, and is set to launch in the Spokane/North Idaho market March 15th.

Bookoo Chef was formed when a group of Spokane entrepreneurs saw the opportunity emerge from the rapid changes arising in the service industry. Matt Goodwin (Owner, The Goodwin Group) and Justin O’Neill (Private Chef and Enterprise Account Executive, Spiceology) support the group with their food industry knowledge and experience. Chris Allred (CEO, ScannedMedia) and Noah Botnick (President, ScannedMedia) provide the technical savvy and marketing know-how to design and launch the service.

“The industry has changed so rapidly over the last few years,” said Matt Goodwin, “from the pivot to in-home dining during the initial lockdown to the fall out from the Great Resignation, the dining landscape has changed forever. But people still want the fine-dining experience, and Bookoo Chef offers a truly entertaining and amazing alternative.”

While Bookoo Chef provides something special for consumers, it also creates amazing opportunities for private chefs in the ever-persistent gig-economy. “No matter how much you love your craft, kitchen work is brutal. It means you’re away from your family 5 plus nights a week. With Bookoo, chefs can set their own availability, working only one night a month if they want,” explained Justin O’Neill.

The website will launch in Spokane with a small bites competition at The Wonder Building on March 15th. The event is sponsored by Ten Capital Wealth Advisors. Bookoo Chef has its sights on a nation-wide launch this year. “This project is massive and exciting,” said Noah Botnick, “We think it’ll really disrupt the market in wonderful ways — it’s a true win-win for consumers and chefs.”
